Dazzling Cannes is still political:
Do you know that the Cannes film festival has a rich historical and political background? Are you aware that Cannes was a by-product of anti-Nazi competition? It all started right after World War 2. German dictator Adolf Hitler pressured the jury of the Venice film festival in 1938. He was ordered to be awarded the “Olympiad” first prize. Here all international cinema representatives thought of having a free and fair film festival with no politics involved. After a struggle, the final day arrived in 1946. And Cannes became the hub of Cinema.
Celebrating its 75th anniversary with all its thrill, In the present day. Cannes is still unable to get out of politics. The organizers made a special arrangement of adding a special appeal to the film guild on the opening night that all of them have a responsibility to speak against unjust through their films. Do you know who made the special appeal?
It was Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Who gave a standing ovation as well? To exhibit solidarity, organizers have kicked off all Russian movies.
